I had my first weekend break in forever and visited family friends in a Scottish coastal town called Largs (It has a Viking connection in case anyone is somewhat curious).

It was so nice to be somewhere other than home that I cannot really describe it. The former mundane is now terribly exciting.

Hope everyone else out there in Dreamwidth land is doing well.

How is it possible that May is the last time I logged in? I have given up on my inbox and just deleted everything.

Should anyone still remember me, I hope life has been treating you kindly.

I am still fully immersed in listening to music and reading. I have stuck with rewatching old favourites in drama land because I get two or three episodes into new shows and just seen to lose interest.

If anyone had any suggestions, I would gladly add them to the 'give it a go' list.

I eventually had to give up on doing a full Guardian re-watch as I kept get distracted by Douluo Continent. As a result, for the latter half of Guardian I just watched favourite scenes to reinforce my love for our beautifully tormented tragic heroes.

I did make it through all of the aforementioned Douluo Continent which was supremely silly and sweet, I loved it.

I am working my way through the Bon Voyage seasons of the BTS reality show. It is cheerful and offers vicarious travel while the world is still mostly stuck at home.

Once the holiday weekend is over, I am planning to watch The Untamed again.

To anybody reading this, I hope you and yours are healthy, happy and that life is treating you well.

The last few months have been predominantly focussed on listening to music and reading rather than watching things but I have eventually managed to finish Itaewon Class so I decided I was in the mood to revisit some noble pining.

Having decided that the suggestion of [personal profile] trobadora was a wise one, I have now rewatched the first two episodes of Guardian... I missed this show. The craziness is only surpassed by the pining of the pretty, pretty young men.

I finally finished watching something! I honestly thought I had forgotten how to actually start and finish something.

The programme in question is a slightly older Taiwanese one called Lion Pride. It was a Netflix suggestion so I gave it a go. It wasn't my normal type of choice for a foreign drama but it was enjoyable enough. Each episode was about an hour and ten minutes long, I am soooo not used to that anymore.

I think my reward will be to start The Untamed again. 😁

Fic reading

Good grief, I am reading too much fanfic.

Must re-enter the real world soon.

My employer is being really rather brilliant about working from home. The teams that make up my department (3 teams across the country) have been told to work from home since Wednesday. Plan is potentially for 12 weeks. If the situation allows it we'll be back in stages before that but we have been told to plan accordingly. Those with underlying health conditions will be last back. I have asthma so I am more or less expecting up to 12 weeks at home.

It is the end of day 2 and I miss walking about. Furthest I have been is a five minute walk outside.

I am planning on a lot of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify.

I fear boredom and growing stir crazy, I worry about family and friends getting this sodding virus and I am fervently hoping for the best.

Stay safe, everyone. 💛

Best wishes to all for a safe & mellow 2020.

My day started with having to make a call to the SSPCA because there was a dog wandering the streets either lost, turfed out or just neglected. It was a gorgeous German Shepherd and I hope it is found and looked after.

If you've got pets give them an extra hug today from me.

WTF?

My Kindle which has been like old reliable has suddenly decided to wipe all favourites and bookmarks and decide I have never browsed the internet ever.

Confused and slightly vexed.

I suppose it is an excuse to compile a new list of favourites but I don't like it when technology goes wacky.

I feel bad that I am disorganised this year. I got some cards and postcards sent out but not as many as I should have done.

Thanks to those that have sent funky or festive cards and I promise to be more organised around this time next year.

I have been very lackadaisical about posting but, in my defence, I have had work, dog-sitting and a long weekend in London since I last posted.

I will endeavour to do better in December.

My music recommendation for the day is Raymond Froggat and the album Bleach. It was one played regularly when I was younger. I recently found it via Spotify and nostalgia abounds.

I looked at 'marked for later' in my AO3 account and there were over 30 pages of fics. This is what happens when I take notions to re-read in older fandoms.

Knowing fine well that I am never going to get to them all, I finally took the plunge and cleared them all. It feels rather good to be unencumbered. My unofficial goal is to have no more than 10 fics marked for later at any one time going forward.

Now, if I could just do that with my myriad open tabs as well...

Yikes, July is proceeding speedily along, or so it seems to me. June was far more sedate and respectable. *g*

Work is work, nothing exciting particularly but a necessary evil to be able to pay for things.

Things I have enjoyed:
a) Reading fanfic in various fandoms (particularly Good Omens because it makes me smile).
b) Watching entirely too much foreign dramas and animation.
c) Becoming ridiculously obsessed with BTS and continuing to be fascinated with Hua Chenyu (its the most interesting music listening has been in a while).
d) I managed a fic for the July theme for the brush_and_lantern in spite of the aforementioned hectic nature of July.

Things I endured:
Shopping for an outfit for a family wedding. I hate clothes shopping with a passion!

Things I am looking forward to:
Trip to London at the end of the month - LFCC (London Film & Comic Con) - with perhaps a stop off at the Manga exhibition at the British Museum.

Hope everyone else is having a reasonably serene July.

Stuff done:
Geeky trip to London for MCM Comic Con. I remember when it was only a bit of the Excel Centre it took over, it seems to just keep getting bigger but not always better organised.

Plus points were being surrounded by multitudes of likeminded people, Tyler Hoechlin continuing to be too nice for real life and getting to see Sebastian Stan in person.

Negatives include queuing (just because British people seen to be innately good at it doesn't mean I like it) and heat. I realise mid-20s is not too hot for a lot of people but when you are carrying a lot of stuff about it is not fun.

Stuff not done:
Still not managed to get through all the fics in the 520 Day Guardian Exchange but I am getting there. 😊

Finishing watching the latter half of Detective L (my plan for this weekend coming).

It has been a local bank holiday here. I've had a few days of chilling out, trying out the food in a pub I have previously walked by (yum!) and hanging out with family and friends.

Not the most exciting time ever but sometimes that is a good thing.
